Hephaestus is a comprehensive platform designed to empower novice software engineers and foster sustainable, collaborative development practices. Our mission centers on providing actionable tools that help teams continuously improve and stay focused on real-world challenges, evolving into a framework that nurtures agile, effective, and healthy software teams for the long term.
The platform features two main components: Code Review Gamification and AI Mentor. The gamification system includes dynamic weekly leaderboards with real-time GitHub integration, team competitions across multiple repositories, structured league systems with Elo-like rankings, and automated Slack notifications celebrating top reviewers. The AI Mentor provides reflective sessions for goal setting and achievement, automated standup generation, and GitHub activity awareness for data-driven feedback during continuous improvement sessions.
Currently deployed for the Applied Education Technologies research group, Hephaestus is actively assisting internal teams such as Artemis with their development workflows. The platform integrates seamlessly with existing development processes while maintaining a clean, intuitive interface that makes it accessible to development teams at various experience levels.
